Waikato Farm Manager or Sharemilking Opportunity
Located in Central Waikato, our 93-hectare dairy farm is home to a top performing Jersey-cross herd of 255 cows (BW 330 / PW 386), producing 125,000 kgMS. The fully integrated platform supports young stock and maize production, and has a complete suite of machinery. Enjoy a convenient 8-minute drive to Cambridge, a 15-minute skip to Hamilton, and a 90-minute hop to Auckland.
Our family farm has been farmed by five generations, starting with our first milk round in 1870. The retired owner managed the farm for 48 seasons and remains available for support. We are committed to sustainable agriculture and are members of the Waikato Regen Ag group and Quorum Sense, where we combine our family’s traditions with regenerative innovations.
Our business goals
Our immediate goal is to recruit an enthusiastic team member to operate the dairy platform. This may be as a Dairy Farm Manager or Share Milker. Our ambition is to transition to organic/regenerative practices over the next three seasons. In the medium term, we aim to develop direct dairy and meat supply to the local market, and have some market leading innovations. Our long-term vision is to create a diversified, locally focused food hub, similar to Mangaroa Farm (Hutt Valley) and Mangarara Station (Hawkes Bay), leveraging our farm’s central location in the Waikato.
Why we are exploring farming partnerships, or what we hope to gain from one
Family succession has created an exciting opportunity for a new team member. We're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced manager to take ownership of the farm’s day-to-day operations, including milking, pasture management, and calf rearing. We also welcome new perspectives on our mid-term strategy and the broader goal of establishing a diversified food hub.
What we would value most in a partnership
Clear and consistent communication is essential to maintain alignment on our shared goals and expectations. We value an open, honest relationship grounded in sustainable, regenerative practices.
We’re seeking an open and honest working relationship, supported by a structured management system, will be critical to achieving our goals. We seek a partner who values teamwork and can drive initiatives in alignment with our vision.
Why we would be great partners
We balance tradition and innovation, with a strong commitment to doing right by nature. We believe in supporting our team to reach their goals and fostering a collaborative environment where new ideas can thrive. We are also committed to the long term career path of our team, so we're happy to discuss how leasing or ownership of the herd could be an option for the right person, or form part of the remuneration package. We seek a sharp operator to grow into a long-term partner.
