  • What do you mean by "partnerships" in farming?
Partnerships typically include arrangements like leasing, lease-to-buy, vendor financing, deferred settlement, share-farming, equity partnerships, syndications and even where employees have the chance to own some livestock or machinery. But in reality, any joint venture between two or more parties is a partnership and other arrangements are welcome on the Landify platform.
  • Who qualifies as a "next generation farmer"?
"Next generation farmer" is a broad brush way of referring to anyone who's a little younger than the generation soon-to-be retiring from farming, and who have ambitions to gain and/or grow their stake in the industry.
  • What does this cost?
It's free to sign up, receive our Listing Updates, create a Bio and enquire about Listings. Members can Become Verified (a paid member) to Make a Listing of their own, and so they are contactable by farmers and investors whose listings you have enquired about. Verification costs $499 (incl. GST) per year. The verification process and subscription cost filters out the serious contenders from the tyre-kickers, helping us to maintain the quality of our platform and our users' experience.
  • What does "verified" mean?
Verified members pay an annual subscription and have been through a process where they have indicated to us their business experience and goals, motivations for exploring farming partnerships, what they are looking for in a partnership, their key values, the trusted advisors they are working with, and where relevant, their equity level. This information is used to create a 'Landify Bio', which is kept confidential, until users choose to release it to the people whose listings they want to enquire about. Being verified grants each member one free 12 month listing, and they can make unlimited enquiries and connections about other listings on our platform.
  • How do agents or advisors use Landify on behalf of their clients?
For Landify to work, we know that our farmers and potential investors need the right people around the table. For that reason, anyone can help their clients Make a Bio or Make a Listing. They just need to flag with us who they are and if they would like to be a point of contact in the process. We are offering subscription options to agents, advisors and firms who would like their services to be advertised to our user base - we'll keep you in the loop as we release these plans. Note: Agents or advisors will only be able to 'enquire' about listings on a case-by-case basis*, and strictly on behalf of a named client, as per our Terms of Use. *We know a number of our sign-ups are agents, advisors and other rural professionals who, in addition to acting on behalf of clients, may also like to explore farming partnership and investment opportunities for themselves. For this reason, agents and advisors are welcome to Become Verified ($499/yr) themselves, and they are also entitled to make one free listing for themselves. Our policies and Terms of Use regarding agents and advisors are subject to change if we suspect the platform is being misused.
  • Can we advertise our products and services on Landify?
We will allow up to five advertisements per month to appear in our listings. This will be paid advertising, and it will only be available where the services in question are in line with our mission and do not conflict our our activities. Decisions regarding the appropriateness of advertising will be at the discretion of the Landify team. We are building a Service Providers Directory (on a webpage) of relevant service providers to refer our users to. This is because we strongly recommend that our users seek independent financial, legal and other strategic advice when considering farming partnership opportunities. Service providers in this directory will pay a subscription to have their individual and/or firm Bio's feature on this page. If you are interested in advertising, including having your firm appear in our Directory as a service provider, please contact us.
  • What does "financial pathway product" mean?
We're realistic that connecting people, alone, will not be enough to truly disrupt the current trajectory of farm ownership. Financial pathways (i.e. access to capital) to enable retirement, succession, and pathways to farm ownership, are extremely problematic. So, we're leveraging the brand we're building, testing ideas in-line with our mission, growing a list of partners and exploring new ways to for farmers to access capital. We hope to be part of an agribusiness ecosystem innovating for better family farming outcomes in New Zealand. And we want to keep the Landify community in the loop about this.
  • How do we know we can trust you, and trust Landify?
Well, New Zealand is a small place. You could probably ask around and check if we're the real deal. But we think we have the right skills and experience to start this, and the right support, network, partners and advisory board to help us take it to the next level. Landify users are also protected by our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, which spell out how all users are expected to engage in the platform, and the boundaries for how Landify will use things like your data. Don't worry, we're not in the business of selling your personal information, targeted advertising, or anything nasty like that.
