Equity Partnership Opportunity: Sheep & Beef Operation in Hawkes Bay
An established sheep and beef operation in Hawkes Bay is inviting expressions of interest from a young person, couple or family to join the company as equity partners. This family is motivated to partner due to ageing bones, but they are still highly engaged in the business and have a desire to see the results of their beef breeding programme come to fruition. This opportunity is perfect for a party who can bring some of their own capital to the table, a willingness to work within an established operation and to learn from an experienced farmer.
The farm, which is set up for both sheep and beef, comprises both freehold and leasehold land, and offers attractive scale to the operation. The ideal partner will be willing to take on the more physically demanding tasks, collaborate respectfully, grow their equity and experience, and work towards a pathway which could see them take over the whole operation in the future.
Living arrangements will need to be considered as the family plans to remain living on the property, where only one dwelling exists. This family is seeking a partner who values trust and communication. They are open to a phased approach that might see the incoming party employed part time initially (while working casual in the district for the balance of the working week, for example) to test how the relationship meshes. A formal partnership would then ideally be put in place within 18 months.
This opportunity is about more than just farming—it's about creating a pathway for younger farmers with fresh energy to help secure the future of a family-owned operation and keep the land in farming, rather than risking it to other uses like forestry.
